Wayne Miller is a Cape Breton–based entrepreneur recognized by many as “the smoothie guy” from his time running Downtown Nutrition, a local health and smoothie shop that became a community staple. Following the pandemic, Wayne transitioned into the tech space as part of Digital Nova Scotia’s first SaaS Tech Sales cohort, later joining 45Drives, where he championed the launch of their new division, 45Professional.
Eager to continue his journey in tech, Wayne connected with Volta and its vision to bridge the gap between local business and technology — a natural fit for his entrepreneurial mindset. While exploring coding, no-code tools, and AI, one insight from a Volta Vibe Coding session stuck with him: “Your perspective, your insight, and your lived experience are the foundation of innovation.” That sparked the creation of BrainThrive, a project inspired by challenges in his own family life — transforming a personal problem into a purpose-driven solution.
BrainThrive is a gamified screen-time management app designed for kids and parents. It turns healthy digital habits into a fun challenge where kids earn rewards for balanced screen use and task completion, while parents get tools to monitor and encourage positive behavior. The goal: transform screen-time struggles into opportunities for growth and connection.
