Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia is part of a global non-profit committed to empowering youth to own their future success. Through a network of volunteers who share their own life experiences with students, they deliver immersive learning experiences in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

Starting February 6, this 15 week long program provides students with an opportunity to learn how to organize and operate a real business. Volunteers from the local business community work with students to launch and run a small enterprise, offering students real-world skills and experience that they need to achieve their dreams of becoming an entrepreneur or leader.

Through the process of starting and operating a small business, youth have the chance to express their interests and goals in a growth-oriented setting. Whether your interest is in design, science, math, skilled trades or entrepreneurship, Company Program will facilitate your growth.

Benefits of being involved with JA Company Program:

– There are special events that students can attend.

– There are awards and scholarships available to students who are participating.

– The Nova Scotia Department of Education grants students a 1/2 high school credit upon completion of a year of Company Program. (Students can earn a full credit by participating for two years)

– Students who are enrolled in their school’s co-op program can count Company Program hours toward their Co-op requirements.
