Feb 21 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Join Kim Scaravelli of Trust Communications as she discusses the first 5 steps to building your business’s online presence.

The phone book is dead. In the 21st century, we “search” for things online. When people search, you need your business to show up – and look good! In this lunch ’n’ learn we’re going to nail down the first 5 steps to building your online presence:

1. A customer-centric strategy,

2. A website that works for search engines AND people,

3. A solid Google My Business page,

4. Effective social media, and

5. Ways of measuring your results (What’s working. What isn’t)

This is a foundational look at marketing in 2020. Over the year, Ignite and Digital Nova Scotia will explore each of these 5 steps in greater detail, bringing in subject-matter experts from across the province.

Powered by Digital Nova Scotia in Partnership with IGNITE.

IP Matters - IP and Patents with Intellectual Property [Southern] @ Ignite Southern

Innovation starts with an idea—your idea. Are you developing your idea into something tangible such as building a brand for your business or creating a product to sell? If so, then you need to know about intellectual property (IP). This seminar will introduce you to trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs and copyright, and explain how protecting your creations through IP rights can give you an advantage over your competition.

Catherine Vardy joined the Canadian Intellectual Property Office in 2015. As an Intellectual Property Advisor for the Atlantic Region, Catherine has worked extensively with people to identify and highlight the value of IP, making a complex topic accessible to a wider audience. As the Network Liaison and Program Manager at Springboard Atlantic, Catherine worked closely with innovative SMEs, universities and colleges. Catherine also worked in Atlantic Canada as a Research and Innovation Development Officer with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).
