Building a company comes with plenty of legal questions. Through IGNITE’s partnership with Dentons Canada LLP, entrepreneurs in our community can access practical legal education, resources, and opportunities to connect with experienced legal professionals as they build and grow their businesses.
The partnership is designed to make legal knowledge more accessible to startups and entrepreneurs across rural Nova Scotia — whether you’re just getting started, preparing to grow, or navigating a new challenge.
Monthly General Counsel Office Hours
One of the key supports available through the partnership is our monthly virtual General Counsel Office Hours with Dentons.
Held on the last Friday of each month, these informal, one-hour sessions give members of the IGNITE community an opportunity to bring general questions to the Dentons team and learn alongside other entrepreneurs.
Each month features a different theme, with topics such as:
- Incorporation and business structure
- Intellectual property
- Privacy and data
- Artificial intelligence
- Commercialization
- Other legal considerations that come with starting and growing a business
*Office Hours are an open group forum intended for general questions and discussion. Other entrepreneurs will be on the call, so participants should not share confidential information. Detailed or specific matters can be discussed separately with Dentons.
- More Knowledge, Resources & Connections
Our partnership with Dentons extends beyond Office Hours. Dentons professionals contribute to workshops and educational programming for the IGNITE community, while Dentons’ Founder Series resources are available to entrepreneurs through IGNITE.
Dentons also participates in startup and ecosystem events alongside IGNITE, creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect with professional expertise and build relationships as their companies grow.
For IGNITE, the partnership is another way we’re working to reduce barriers for entrepreneurs in rural Nova Scotia.
